An analogy for the "mods 'll fix it" argument

Let's say I buy a factory-new automobile. Straight off the assembly line.
To my intense displeasure and dismay, the vehicle to lacking many critical components and parts.
The components that are there are deficient and unusable. Thus, I am forced to gut the whole entire thing.

Leaving me with just a pretty paint job, yet no substance or enjoyability.
